Skywalk is a seed-round stealth tech startup based in Palo Alto. We are pushing the boundaries of Artificial Intelligence and wearable technology, and integrating them into a new generation of computing platforms. We focus on creating wearable, audio-first devices that offer high-performance voice interaction anywhere, anytime.

We are seeking a passionate and talented graduate and undergraduate-level interns from Computer Science and Electrical Engineering backgrounds to join our dynamic team in Palo Alto. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research and engineering problems, contributing to developing our next-generation computing platform.

Our innovative approach is centered around a new computer interface. We are currently offering multiple roles in three main directions, each presenting open-ended research questions that we invite you to explore:‍‍

Next-Generation AI Interactions: How can we integrate AI interactions into daily life and work? Could AI-enabled web browser plugins or keyboard extensions be the answer? How can we enable AI to understand the context of our interactions?
Audio Augmented Reality (AR): What potential does audio have to create magical experiences? How can an Audio AI agent engage in human-to-human conversation and assist people in real-world tasks?
Low-Latency Human-Like Speech Interaction: How can we provide better non-verbal cues during voice conversations with human users? How can we improve speech recognition accuracy, latency, and resource usage, and provide real-time feedback during speech recognition?

These questions are not exhaustive but serve as a starting point for your exploration and innovation.

One of the unique aspects of interning at Skywalk is the opportunity to participate in the startup process and significantly impact an actual product. Our internship is quite open-ended, allowing you to explore and innovate within our focus areas.

At Skywalk, we also offer a unique opportunity to work on an audio AI hardware platform ready to go. You will be part of an exciting team working to solve real-world problems. We also support academic growth and are open to publications based on your work during the internship.

Preferred Qualifications: ‍

Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Strong programming skills
Familiarity with AI and ML concepts
Interest in audio technology and wearable devices
Excellent problem-solving abilities
Strong communication and teamwork skills
